Remove Person from Scene

Summary:
Have you ever worked with a photograph where you think that it would just be perfect if a certain person was not in the scene? In this tutorial, we'll teach you how to erase that person from the photograph so that your images are how you wanted them to be.

Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open the photograph that has the person you want to remove.

2. Select the Clone Stamp tool and choose an appropriate brush size to use for erasing the person from the scene.
3. Zoom in on the person, hold down the ALT key to click on the background or area to the left, right, above, or below area next to the person.

4. Let go of the ALT key, then begin painting over the person using the cloned background.

5. Try ALT + Clicking and painting the cloned background on all the surrounding sides to get the best cloned background effect possible.

6. When you have gotten most of the person, there may be some parts that are overlapping objects in the scene.

7. To get these overlapping parts, you have to take extra special care. This means using a much smaller clone brush size, and having to ALT + Click the background multiple times, then painting "along" the angle of the object to redraw the object. For example, notice in the image below how I paint "along" the angle of the bench. This helps recreate the background object that was overlapped.

8. When you are done, you may need to select the Smudge tool, choose an appropriate brush size, then smudge over any areas that look like they were obviously cloned. This helps to disguise the clone effect and hides that there was anybody there in the first place.
9. When you are done, you should have completely erased your person from the photo.
